Kook has been working at our ice factory since 2010. In 2011, he was one of a few workers who stayed to help when the big flood hits. He is now married and has a daughter. In this photograph, Kook cuts ice and prepares it to be delivered. Not pictured, but in the same space, a worker sleeps.

It is pay day. The workers gather and wait for my dad. When he arrives, he recaps the passed two weeks and calls each of the their names, walks over to them and hands them their pay in cash.

They are work friends. Saw, Tai, and Pia live on the second floor of the three-story ice shop. Jor-Sa lives a little farther away with his wife. Kao-Lee used to work for my mom, then he left Thailand for a few years. He came back this passed summer and started working for my mom again.

Pia, Saw, Tai and Kao-Lee are bagging ground ice and placing the bags on a cart. Each bag weighs 26 kg. There are eight ice bags on the cart.
